BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS - GENERAL


Heyday Hostel prides itself on creating a friendly, welcoming, and above all a safe place for people of all ages to enjoy. Any breaches of our guest behaviour policies will be treated seriously and regarded as a breach of these terms and conditions.
Please Note - a booking made by or on behalf of individuals is subject to the terms & conditions set out below. If the behaviour of you, our guest, or any member of your party, is considered likely to cause danger, damage, or offence, we reserve at our reasonable discretion the right to cancel or terminate your stay at the hostel completely. If any member of Heyday Hostel’s staff considers the behaviour of any guest or member of a group to be unacceptable, they are authorised to terminate your stay and you, and any guest/s affiliated with your booking will be asked to leave the premises. We will not be obliged to cover any expense which may be incurred by the party or parties concerned, neither will we consider any claim for compensation or refunds.

Check-in


• Full payment for your booking must be made at check-in.


• A passport or a recognised form of current photo ID, acceptable to our staff members in their sole discretion, must be presented at check in. 


• Students must present a student card or a letter from their school.


• A security deposit of €50, in cash, is required to be paid at check-in for a booking of over 6 nights. This amount will be refunded when you leave the hostel. 


• Check-in is from 3-6pm 


• Guests will receive a room key card to access their room. 


• Late check-ins can be facilitated up to 10.00pm, if pre-arranged 24-hours in advance, Thursday to Sunday inclusive. This service is unavailable Monday through Wednesday inclusive, except on Bank Holidays. 


• Baggage can be stored at the hostel, free of charge, should you arrive earlier than the check-in time.


• The maximum length of stay at Heyday Hostel is 7 consecutive nights. Following any stay of 7 nights, you (and any of your guests that you have made a booking for) will not be permitted to stay in Heyday Hostel for the 14 nights following check-out. We are not authorised to, and therefore we do not, provide semi-permanent housing. We cannot be used as a primary place of residence. 


Check-out


• Check-out time is 10.30am 


• Late check-out, up until 12.00 noon, can be facilitated if arranged the day before for a charge of €10.


• In the case of a late departure (after 10.30am), Heyday Hostel reserves the right to charge for a further night’s stay at the appropriate bed rate. 


• On check-out, all guest belongings must be removed from the room and the room key be returned to reception. Failure to do so will result in a charge to your credit card of €20, for its replacement.


• The number of persons stated in the booking or assigned to the room on check-in must not be exceeded, under any circumstances. If this occurs, the named guest in that room will be responsible for the payment of an additional tariff to the value of the cost per guest for the relevant room. 


• Overnight visitors are not allowed.


• Furthermore, we are not responsible for any situation/injury/theft caused on tours, activities or walks outside our facilities.

Payment


• Bookings made directly through Heyday Hostel’s website can be paid via payment cards, such as Visa or Mastercard. 


• A booking has taken place when Heyday Hostel emails you to accept it, at which point a binding contract will come into existence between you and Heyday Hostel (for a booking with us).


• An upfront payment of 50% of the total booking will be charged to the card to confirm the booking. The remaining 50% must be paid at check-in on the same card as used for the initial booking. If any of these terms & conditions are not met, then without prejudice to our other rights and remedies, we may cancel your booking. 


• Bookings made at our reception can be paid by card or cash. 


• Bookings made through other channels or travel agencies will be governed by each channel’s payment policies. 



Group Bookings


If a Heyday Hostel booking consists of 3 rooms or more, or is made up of 6 guests or more, it is considered a group booking. Please contact the hostel directly by telephone or email, for details regarding booking guidelines. 



Facilities

• Each guest is provided with a towel for use during their stay. Extra towels can be rented from reception for a fee of €5.


• Where a guest is staying at Heyday Hostel for 7 consecutive nights, a towel change will be provided on the 4th day. Change of linen can be provided for a fee of €10 and housekeeping for €5.


• Underbed storage trolleys are provided for bunk beds. Locks are available from reception for a fee of €5. Guests may also bring their own lock.


• Access to our common room is available 24 hours, whilst still respecting the requirement for quiet after 11.00pm. 


• The kitchen closes at 10pm every night and re-opens at 7am daily.


• Free WiFi is available to all guests.


• A free self-service continental breakfast is available to all guests (7-10am) which includes cereals, tea & coffee, and toast.


• Tea & coffee is available throughout the day on a self-service basis for guests of the hostel. 


Laundry Room


• Our laundry room is available from 7am – 9pm daily. 


• Tokens for use of the washer & dryer can be purchased from reception for €5 for a wash & dry. 


• Detergent capsule can also be purchased for €2.



Additional Details

Age Restriction


• All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. In the case of group bookings, Heyday Hostel requires an adult to minor ratio of 1:5 for guests under the age of 18.


Amendments & Cancellations


• Bookings can be cancelled at no cost up to 48 hours before the check-in date. 


• Any amendments to your bookings must be made no later than 48 hours prior to arrival. We will try and accommodate your amendments, subject to availability and resources.


• We do not accept cancellations made by telephone and any cancellations made by telephone shall be invalid. Cancellations may only be made via email to info@heydayhostel.com


• Early departures are not eligible for a refund under any circumstances and in cases of early check-out. 

• We do not provide any credit.


• The booking is personal in nature and cannot be passed on to anyone else.


• In the case of a no-show, guests will be charged the full amount of the booking. 


Guest Behaviour


• The comfort of all our guests is of paramount importance. Any guest who, in the opinion of our hostel staff, compromises the comfort, safety, or security of other guests, staff or residents, will be requested to leave the hostel premises immediately, and will not be issued a refund.


• Guests are expected to respect other guests, staff, residents, and property.


• The Management reserve the right to refuse admission.


• Listening to music/ playing audio from devices in rooms or areas close to bedrooms is prohibited. This prohibition includes headphones / earphones which play audio loudly enough to disturb other guests. Guests are encouraged to use the common room for these purposes.


• We request that guests respect quiet time after 11pm in the corridors and stairway when entering and exiting bedrooms as well as in the bedrooms themselves. Signage throughout the building reflects this requirement.


DAMAGE POLICY


• We reserve the right to charge guests additional fees for the cost of specialised or additional cleaning as well as costs incurred by the guest through deliberate or negligent or reckless acts, to the hostel’s property or structure. Should this damage come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit/debit card, or to send an invoice for the amount to the registered address. We will make reasonable efforts to rectify any damage internally prior to contracting specialists to make the repairs and will make reasonable efforts to keep any costs that the guest would incur to a minimum. 


• We reserve the right to charge guests the cost of replacing any items that are removed from the premises by them without our prior consent. The charge will be the full replacement amount of the missing item, including any carriage charges. Should the fact that the item is missing come to light after the guest has departed, we reserve the right to make a charge to the guest’s credit/debit card, or to send an invoice for the amount to the registered address.


• Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere within the Heyday Hostel premises. Any guest found smoking within the building including out the open window will be charged a fee of €100.00 to cover the extensive cost of restoring the room to a smoke-free condition. Smoking in the rooms renders them unfit for use by other guests in the following days and thereby a loss in revenue for Heyday. 

• Further failure to comply will result in the guest(s) being asked to leave the premises immediately and not offered a refund. If you wish to smoke, please ask our reception staff on arrival about designated smoking areas. 

• A passport or a recognised form of current photo ID must be presented at check in. Check in cannot be facilitated without this.


CCTV


• We use Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) at Heyday Hostel, and you may be recorded when you are a guest with us. We use CCTV to help protect our guests, employees, and visitors, and to protect our premises from criminal activities. We have a CCTV policy, which includes a defined retention period (30 days at most sites) and a process for managing requests for CCTV footage. We may share with The Garda Síochána, upon request, for the purpose of investigating a crime. 


Personal Property


• It is the guest’s responsibility to ensure that their personal belongings are always secure. Heyday Hostel accepts no liability for the loss of, theft or damage to property however sustained or caused.

• Heyday Hostel reserves the right to only store lost and forgotten items for a period of two weeks. After the two-week period, items will be disposed of, and we can no longer assist in recovering lost or forgotten items. Heyday Hostel takes no responsibility for forgotten or lost items and cannot guarantee that items can be found/recovered. 

Pets


• Whilst we are big animal lovers, Heyday Hostel does not accept pets or animals on the property other than guide dogs.


Complaints/ Feedback


• Our mission is that every guest has an enjoyable and happy experience whilst staying with us at Heyday. In the event of a complaint, please contact a member of staff so we can work to resolve and address the issue.

• We welcome feedback following your stay and how we can improve. Please contact us on info@heydayhostel.com


Complaints procedure


• In the unlikely event that guests have any reason to complain or experience any problems with their accommodation, please inform the hostel immediately and at the time of the occurrence. This allows Heyday Hostel and its staff, an opportunity to provide a remedy on the spot. Most problems can be dealt with quickly.


• We cannot entertain any complaints or requests for compensation if issues are not raised with Heyday Hostel at the time of occurrence.


• If you remain dissatisfied, we recommend that a written notification be sent to Heyday Hostel. A copy of this written complaint with a cover letter (including your group name and dates of travel) should be sent to us within 14 days of your departure date. We regret that we cannot investigate any complaints not notified within this term.


Exclusion of Liability


• We are not responsible for communication, malfunctions, failures, or difficulties or lost, stolen or misdirected transmissions, messages or entries or the security of any such communications.  We and any other providers of products or services are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by user(s) or by any of the equipment or programming or by any technical or human error that may occur in the process of any information. 


• We and any other providers of products and services may cancel or modify bookings where it appears that a user is engaged in fraudulent or inappropriate activity, or under other circumstances, where it appears that the bookings contain or resulted from mistake or error. 


• You agree that neither we nor any other providers of products or services are responsible for any damages that may arise if any travel or other arrangements or other orders you request or make are not processed or accepted for any reason. 


• Any information we provide may contain technical inaccuracies or typographical errors including but not limited to inaccuracies relating to pricing or availability.  We do not assume responsibility or liability for any such inaccuracies or errors or omissions and shall have no obligation to honour bookings or information affected by such inaccuracies. We reserve the right to make changes, corrections, cancellations to the products and programmes at any time for the purposes of rectifying any such inaccuracies or errors or omissions including after confirmation of a booking and will notify you of any such changes, corrections, or cancellations.


• To the maximum extent permitted by law, we hereby expressly exclude any liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage incurred by you including without limitation any liability for loss of income or revenue loss of business, loss of profits, loss of anticipated savings, loss of data, loss of goodwill or for any other loss of any kind howsoever arising and whether caused by tort (including negligence), breach of contract or otherwise even if foreseeable, provided that this condition shall not prevent loss of or damage to your tangible property or any other claims for direct loss which are not excluded by this clause and in the event that we are held liable for any damage, to the fullest extent permitted by law, your sole and exclusive remedy will be limited to reimbursement of the charges paid by you. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence nor our liability for fraud or reckless misrepresentation as to a fundamental matter nor any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under Irish Law.


• For the avoidance of all doubt this agreement is governed by the Laws of Ireland and the Irish Courts shall have sole jurisdiction to deal with any disputes of any kind.
